Our Goals:

The Education Advisory Council (EAC) is committed to academic development of all of our Association members.  We believe that education plays a key role in informing citizens and promoting prosperity and improved quality of life. The EAC is comprised of prominent Association members who possess educational skills or backgrounds that uniquely qualify them as counselors and advisors.  These members also have a great passion for mentoring other and realizing growth and potential of all who seek their counsel.

Our Vision:

The vision of the EAC is to provide lessons learned and best practices, techniques, and methods of academic achievement.

Our Commitment:

Education Advisory Council members will serve as mentors, advisors, and counselors to any Association member who desires academic assistance.  As dedicated professionals, they will guide members toward academic degrees or individual professional goals.  As successful former recruiters and career counselors, EAC members understand the unique needs of our members and can guide them to a successful educational experience.  The EAC is committed to every member's success!  There is no fee for any services from the EAC.

All EAC members serve as unpaid volunteers to help our members toward educational and professional goals.

Professor Lyle Hogue

Dr. Lyle J. Hogue, currently works for IBM as a managing consulting in the public sector.  Prior to this, he worked for Science Applications International Corporation as a researcher and writer of various Army professional development pamphlets.  He served 23 years in the Army; predominantly in recruiting and retention positions.  Dr. Hogue's final assignment in the US Army was as the Retention Sergeant Major for Fort Benning, Georgia. He retired in 2006, receiving the Legion of Merit for meritorious service.  Before retirement, Dr. Hogue graduated from Argosy University-Sarasota (http://www.argosyu.edu/sarasota/) with a Doctorate of Education Degree in Organizational Leadership.  Dr. Hogue has published numerous articles in the Human Resources Management and Counseling fields, including the Army Career Counselor Training and Evaluation Handbook.  He is a Professor with the American Public University System, an advisor to the Center for Military Sociological Studies, and serves as the director of marketing for the Association.

Professor Jerry Pionk

Professor Pionk is a retired United States Army Sergeant Major with over 30 years of service. He is nearing completion of his Doctorate in Business and Human Resources Management with Northcentral University. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science degree from The State University of New York. He served from 1992-2000 as the Army's Senior Retention Policy Proponent in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel in the Pentagon. He was named as the Army's Career Counselor of the Century upon his retirement. He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and held the rank of Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has written three books; Prairie Vignettes; a collection of short stories about his South Dakota childhood, the Army Career Planner; and The History of Military Retention;, a compiled archive of major events in our Nation's history that impacted on military retention. He was previously an English instructor at Yale Language Institute in Seoul, Korea and was an English instructor for officials of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Organizing Committee. He has written major legislative proposals for the Army for recruiting and retention incentives, education incentives and other bonus related laws. Currently, he is the Chief of the Army Recruiting Incentives Branch for Heaquarters, Department of the Army in the Pentagon.

Professor Dan Hladky

Professor Daniel Hladky's academic credentials include a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Human Resources Development and Management (HRDV) from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology from the State University of New York. Currently he is pursuing a PhD in Human Resources Management. Professor Hladky is currently the Regional Training and Education Coordinator with a major financial services company in the Southeastern United States. Before his transition to the corporate world, Daniel retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service at the rank of Sergeant Major. His military and civilian background encompasses over 20 years in the field of Human Resources Development and Management. He holds a series 6, 63, and series 26 Principal Securities License and is an affiliate member of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
